Eloping and then throwing an amazing party to celebrate, is a really cool way to get married. Especially when you decide to take a week long road trip with your close friends to get to the reception, and a week long honeymoon road trip after to get back home.
When Katie and Josh arrived in Missouri after driving from California they were welcomed by a party at Katie’s parents farm. There was horseshoes, hammocks, a bonfire, and a lantern wish send off.
I love these two and felt honored to be welcomed so generously into their life for the weekend and can’t wait to crash one of their future road trips.
First dance song was “Love Like This” by Wild Belle, if you want background music.
The next day instead of a ceremony the day started with a champagne trolly ride around Kansas City to look at all the sites. Then it had a pit stop at the hotel to change outfits and ended at the reception venue. The venue that was on the top floor of the Firestone Building downtown, including the roof top was magical by itself. However after Katie decorated it with geometric vases and decor and self designed signs it was perfect. The night included a live cover band that killed it, a first dance where the two just played and giggled and BBQ from Anthony Bourdain’s top 13 places to eat before you die list.
