Lake Titikaka

Eating guinea pigs and fruit salads, seeing condors, drooling over tiny scooter cars, and meeting the people that live on floating islands in Lake Titikaka are part of the adventures that started when I jumped on Peru Hop.  These people can live on the lake for free to the government, so they have built floating islands out of straw and make their money by having tourist come visit.  Tourism is very weird, half of me is creeped out by it and half of me thinks its beautiful that we can bring money into economies and people’s lives that had little means to make it before.  It both ruins cultures and builds them.  But that is a discussion for another time. Enjoy…
